Pack with Her: Capsule [Travel] Wardrobe

So its our last week in Leeds and I am currently packing up my life in the UK and stuffing it into two bags. I'm using a smaller backpack and my Young Endeavour backpack which I would guess is about the equivalent of a two zip 50L backpack, to pack all of my clothing and items. This week I'm going through the clothes that I am planning on wearing for the next six months backpacking through Europe and Asia.

My style is by no means fashionable, rather a mix of comfortable, practical and for special occasions. In the last couple of years my wardrobe has been inspired by the minimalist movement known as 'capsule wardrobes'. A capsule wardrobe is a collection of a staple slow fashion items which are augmented with seasonal and statement pieces. Essentially focusing on maximising the number of outfits that you can achieved from minimal clothing items.

To be a minimalist, in regards to clothing, it requires you to determine what items are necessary and what items are superfluous. There is an emphasis on utility and choosing clothes with the mentality that happiness in not found through things, but through our lives. As such, when I choose my clothes I think of my lifestyle and the occasions in which I wear certain clothing.

Then when I'm packing my clothes for travel I keep in mind the climates that I'll be visiting and the moods that I am most likely to be in whilst traveling. My attitude is to alway find a healthy balance between form and function, somewhere between walking out of Anaconda fully kitted with hiking clothing from head to toe and walking out of Urban Outfitters fully kitted with the most impractical but fashionable boho inspired festival clothing.

For example, traveling with Madison means that like it or not, I am going to be doing a lot of exercise; hiking to lookout points, walking the hour to the bus station instead of catching a bus, taking the long way home ect....so I don't mess around with my shoes and I don't skimp on packing activewear. On the other hand, I will occasionally want to take a nice photo here and there, and so I justify packing some cute maxi-dresses and blouses that I know photograph well but are still super practical.

So you've probably already seen the majority of my clothing on my instagram or in person, and you'll 100% see them again because honestly, money > clothes. Also update, having since packed all of this and traveled with it to Finland, I may need to do another cull of my clothes by the end of the month.

Whilst I'm in Finland, I am only going to take out the outfits that I wear this month, and then anything that I don't take out by the end of the month will go (within reason). But honestly, not sure how helpful this may be, but it was certainly helpful when I was packing up my own stuff. Anyway thanks for supporting us,

With love R xo
